Chance is an American television series created by Kem Nunn and Alexandra Cunningham starring Hugh Laurie. The series is based on the book by Nunn of the same name and was ordered straight-to-series on January 6, 2016 with a straight two-season-order, containing twenty episodes. It premiered on Hulu on October 19, 2016. The second season premiered on October 11, 2017. MFX contributed to over 400 VFX shots throughout the second season. This included 2nd unit photography and backplate acquisition in San Francisco. Multiple VFX supervisors on-set and post-production to deliver world class 4K visual effects.
MFX was honored to design, implement, and execute visual effects for Girlboss. MFX was a key contributor in bringing the audience back to 2006 before Facebook, hashtags, and even iPhones. The period setting created hurdles during shooting, from replacing cars that didn't exist, to replacing modern electric parking meters. Along with hundreds of other visual effect shots, there were dozens of more intricate effects requiring the use of motion control and fully integrated CG set extensions... in 4K.
The 13-episode series, starring Tomorrowland actress Britt Robertson as Sophia Amorusp, will follow the Nasty Gal founder‘s path as she goes from selling vintage clothing on eBay to launching a successful fashion empire.
"SNATCHERS is a high school adventure story about friendship, self-worth, and aliens. Sara is one of the cool kids: she’s got the right friends, makes the right jokes... and is totally terrified of losing her status. She’d be a lot more secure if she could just win back her super-hot ex, Skyler. But he’s not interested unless they move to the next level. Sara decides to take the plunge, but soon discovers Skyler isn’t just horny like a normal teenage boy. Something changed on his summer trip to Mexico. Something in his nards. When Sara wakes up the next morning nine-months pregnant, she goes to the only person she can trust: her nerdy ex-best friend, Hayley. After a trip to the clinic turns horrific, Sara and Hayley realize this alien problem is only just beginning. Over the course of the night, Sara deals with her dead-beat baby daddy, a disapproving mom, and judgmental friends. Ultimately, this is a story of a girl finding self-worth and learning to accept her choices… by killing aliens.
The 2017 Sundance Film Festival will premiere eight short-form episodes of this otherworldly horror-comedy series."
